The publicly viewable side of this site including this topic can be indexed by search engine crawler bots, way to establish online community is having public topics with good discussions that people will see if they run a search for topics that are being discussed.
You may not want to post personal contact info on public side because anyone can see that without even having account at the site. Not sure what the chances are of spam calls/emails from that being posted here.
